## Parts markup

Parts at $100 or less carry 100 percent markup. Small parts absorb disproportionate handling: sourcing, receiving, staging and the return when the wrong one arrives.

Parts over $100 carry 35 percent markup.

Special order parts require a 100 percent non refundable deposit at the time of order. Coach parts are frequently non returnable to the supplier, so that deposit reflects real exposure rather than a policy preference.

## Materials

Paint supplies bill at $55 per paint hour. That covers primer, sealer, base, clear, reducers, hardeners, masking and booth consumables.

Body supplies bill at $5 per body hour, covering abrasives, adhesives, fasteners and filler.

Hazmat and disposal is a $45 flat charge when chemicals, refrigerant or LP is involved.

## Sales tax

California sales tax of 7.75 percent applies to parts and materials. Labor is not taxed.

On a labor dominated repair such as a delamination rebond, the tax line is therefore much smaller than owners expect relative to the invoice total.

## Questions

### Can I supply my own parts to reduce the bill?

Owner supplied parts are handled case by case and the answer is often no. The shop cannot stand behind a part it did not source, and a failed owner supplied part turns into re done labor that somebody has to pay for twice.

### Why is the special order deposit non refundable?

Because most coach specific parts are non returnable to the supplier once ordered against a VIN and floor plan. The deposit matches the shop's actual exposure rather than adding margin.

### Is the hazmat charge applied to every job?

No. It applies when the work involves chemicals, refrigerant or LP that require regulated disposal. A panel repair with no such materials does not carry it.
