# Sprinter and Camper Van Repair Price Bands

> Van collision and refinish runs $1,500 to $40,000, a custom buildout $5,000 to $80,000, sliding door repair $400 to $3,500, and window installation $400 to $3,500. A van is the one class where the body is the structure, which changes every repair decision.

## The body is the structure

A van has no separate frame carrying the box. The painted steel skin, the ribs behind it and the rocker are the structure, so corrosion that would be cosmetic on a coach is structural here.

Once corrosion has perforated a rocker or a structural rib, the section is cut and replaced. Filler over a perforated panel is not a repair, and this shop will say so rather than quote it.

## Buildout is where the range explodes

A custom buildout spans $5,000 to $80,000 across 40 to 400 hours, which is the widest band on the entire rate card.

That range is real. A van with insulation, a window, a bed platform and a simple electrical system is a different project from a full four season build with lithium, solar, hydronic heat and cabinetry.

## Correcting a build that failed

A meaningful share of van work here is fixing a previous conversion: roof penetrations that were sealed with the wrong product, windows cut without reinforcement, and electrical that will not carry the load it was specified for.

That work prices from the same bands, and the evaluation states plainly what has to come back out before anything new goes in.

## Questions

### Why is van collision work cheaper at the low end than RV work?

Because a small van panel is a stamped steel section that can be repaired conventionally, where the equivalent coach panel is a bonded laminate. The high end converges once structure is involved.

### Does a camper van conversion affect collision repair cost?

Yes, substantially. A build adds removal and reinstallation labor to reach the panel, and cabinetry fitted to a wall that has to move is labor on both ends.

### Can rust on a Sprinter rocker be treated rather than cut?

Surface corrosion, yes, at $400 to $3,500. Perforation, no. Once it is through, treating it seals the appearance and leaves the structural loss in place.
